This product project aimed to create a leather keychain that stands out from commonly seen styles in the market, thus establishing the direction of ＂asymmetric design＂ from the outset. After a series of stylistic developments, a preliminary appearance took shape：a square design language with asymmetrical elements using different materials on the left and right, attempting to create a modern and distinctive look.
Through continuous experimentation with various sizes and proportions, we refined the best ratio, maintaining visual balance. The hanging hole structure connecting the key ring is distinctive yet not obtrusive. With a consistent style integrated into the keychain’s body, sleek grooves serve as visual separators, echoing a geometric theme.
Once the design was finalized, the challenge was how to bring the product concept to life.
Common assembly methods leave protrusions on the surface, but to maximize customization within a consistent style, different techniques are required. We utilized a unique internal structure design, allowing precise placement and effective bonding of the leather without any visible annoying glue traces.
